Empower Our Youth With Bicycles

We are gearing up for our first annual Spring Forward Fund to empower youth through bicycles! This campaign is a fundraiser to help us provide thousands of bikes to people in need throughout the state of Wisconsin through our Bike Giveaway Program. Through a $5,000 match, your donation will be doubled for twice the impact!

Without our program, people like Alan, would be left without options for getting to school, to wrestling practice, or to work. Let us share his story.

Imagine you rely on your bike to get to school every day. Then one morning, you're ready to leave for school, only to find that your bike has been stolen. You live five miles from your school, no bussing is available, and you are being raised by your grandmother who is housebound. What do you do? Fortunately, for Alan who lived this experience in November 2023, he had a wrestling coach who advocated for him and gave us a call. Alan told his coach he would have to drop off the wrestling team because of a lack of transportation. Thanks to the person who donated a bike, our staff, and our volunteers, and our financial supporters, we were able to give Alan a $750 like-new Giant bicycle, a helmet, set of lights, and a lock so he could stay on the wrestling team and stay in school. We have dozens of similar stories and that's why we provide our annual Bike Giveaway Program. 12,600+ bikes have now been distributed in Dane County and beyond.

It's costly to work in the transportation equity sector, that's why we don't see many organizations doing this work on the scale that we are. While the bikes are donated for free, every single one of them needs a tune up and approximately 98% of them are broken and in need of repair. This program, when properly funded, runs a total cost of $280,000 to provide 2,000 bikes to people most in need. Without our work, the likelihood of people like Alan dropping out of school is a serious concern.
